John Travolta and the cast of Welcome Back Kotter will be honored at this year’s TV Land Awards. The cast will receive the 35th Anniversary Award when the show is taped on Sunday, April 10th – and this year the event will take place in New York rather than Hollywood.

Travolta will reunite with co-stars Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, Ron Palillo and Marcia Strassman – with more cast members to be announced – for the popular sitcom that ran from 1975-1979.

Welcome Back Kotter revolved around an inner-city high school teacher, Mr. Kotter (Gabe Kaplan) who returns to his alma mater to teach a new generation of under-achieving misfits nicknamed the Sweathogs. Kotter is a former Sweathog himself, so he uses his own life experiences to try and inspire the group that is led by wisecracking Vinnie Barbarino (Travolta).

The cast also included Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs as Freddie “Boom Boom” Washington, Ron Palillo as Arnold Horshack, Robert Hegyes as Juan Epstein and Marcia Strassman as Julie Kotter, Mr. Kotter’s wife.

Here’s hoping they can convince Gabe Kaplan to join the cast.

The entire Awards show will air on Sunday, April 17th, 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on TV Land.
