Matt Damon and Emily Blunt in 'The Adjustment Bureau' (Universal Pictures)
The Adjustment Bureau centers on a politician (Matt Damon) whose life is being orchestrated by a group of mysterious men (which includes Mad Men’s John Slattery and Anthony Mackie), and the picture’s theme of fate and destiny resonates with the actor.
“There are so many roads not taken. There is a Garth Brooks song that is called ‘Unanswered Prayers’ and I think of all those movies that I auditioned for or jobs that I was desperate to get but didn’t get that really turned out to be a blessing in disguise,” said Damon, last seen in the Clint Eastwood movie Hereafter. “Looking back on my life and my career, as much as I’ve tried to control as much as I could, worked as hard as I did, a lot of it really is down to luck.”
