Take Me Home Tonight is a late 1980s set comedy about a listless MIT grad named Matt Franklin (That 70s Show’s Topher Grace) who gets a job at a video store in the San Fernando Valley. When he bumps into his high school crush (I Am Number Four actress Teresa Palmer), Matt is determined to win her affections, even if it costs him a bit of his sanity. The movie, which was initially titled Kids in America, wrapped back in 2007, but unfortunately the project sat on the shelf for several years. “Specifically the cocaine use is tough and I’m sure the studio that had American Graffiti was bummed at all the drinking and the smoking,” said Grace who encountered trials getting the film released due to its cocaine use. But thanks to Relativity Media (and its CEO Ryan Cavanaugh), the movie is finally coming out nationwide on March 4th. “It’s a scary thing to endorse that stuff,” added Palmer. “But then we eventually found someone who ended up embracing it and understood it was imperative to have those R-rated things as a part of the story.” Click on the media bar and listen to Topher Grace and Teresa Palmer talk about how Take Me Home Tonight’s wilder moments escaped the dreaded cutting room floor.
