In The Eagle, Channing Tatum plays a centurion named Marcus Aquila who embarks on a dangerous mission with his slave (Jamie Bell) to find the Eagle of the Ninth, a golden emblem which went missing along with the Ninth legion. Filmmaker Kevin Macdonald (State of Play) shot the film in Hungary for rather practical reasons. “Definitely had goulash,” said Tatum about shooting in Hungary. “They have some of the most heavy food that I have eaten in my entire life over there. They put butter and cheese on everything, which I fancy so it was good. Budapest was amazing. We shot over there because I think the lumber was so cheap and we could build that fort. The extras there, they were all ex-military, ex-cops. They worked hard on getting the marching right, getting everything right. They really did such a great job.” Next up for Tatum is 21 Jump Street with Jonah Hill, and click on the media bar and listen to the actor give an update on the film.
