Because of the ‘sexual misadventures’ portrayed in the The Kennedys miniseries, the Kennedy family found the subject objectionable, the director reportedly said.  The eight-part program was canceled by its first suitor and no one else apparently wants to handle the touchy property.

“We had an extraordinary, great group behind the show and it was done with great care and sensitivity and The History Channel, for whatever reason, got into the hot box on that,” Greg Kinnear who plays JFK told Access Hollywood. “We’re hoping it finds a home. I’m not sure what its status is right now.”

A&E Television Networks told The Hollywood Reporter (that broke the story originally) that “after viewing the final product in its totality, we have concluded this dramatic interpretation is not a fit for the History brand.”

On June of last year, producer Joel Surnow told the L.A. Times that “(the complaining buyers) looked at early drafts of script that don’t even resemble the final draft. It was way too early for them to comment on it.”
