“I feel really lucky,” Kat Von D told In Touch about how everything just sort of fit together with her (now free) boyfriend Jesse James.

The evening before she announced her engagement, the LA Ink star told In Touch, “I think our relationship has matured so much. Every day we grow stronger. I am not ashamed of anything,” the tattoo artist, who began dating James soon after his very public divorce from Sandra Bullock (with Bombshell McGee implicated as the other woman), said at the LA Art Show two days ago.

“How do you know we aren’t already married?” Von D teased when asked the obvious. “You just don’t know!”

It was In Touch that first revealed Jesse James’s affair with tattoo mistress Michelle Bombshell McGee last March. Much has happened since, and this would make the third march in the chapel for the rebel customizer.

And Von D feels really lucky.

“I’d rather be lucky than good,” said Yankee Hall Of Famer Yogi Berra.
