Carla Gugino appeared as a cop late last year in Faster and can also be seen as a TV writer in the indie drama Every Day (now playing in limited release).  Both projects are solid outings for the actress, but it’s her current run on Californication that has peaked my interest.  She plays Abby Rhodes, Hank’s (David Duchovny) no-nonsense lawyer on the program, and she is Hank’s true shot at beating his statutory rape charge.   Californication, which was recently renewed for a fifth season, airs Sunday nights on Showtime at 9 pm et/pt.  Faster comes out on Blu-ray and DVD March 1st.
