Shohreh Aghdashloo is guest starring on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as a detective paired up with Detectives Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Elliott Stabler (Christopher Meloni).

It was a wonderful experience for the Oscar-nominated actress, especially because she’s buds with the series star.

“I thought it was going to be great because I was working with my friend, Mariska Hargitay,” Aghdashloo begins. “I have the pleasure of knowing her and I also admire her for her energy and effort. So when they came to me and I read the story I was ever so happy. I loved the story and I jumped on it.”

As we talked to Ms. Aghdashloo we tried to squeeze the info about the episode out of her but she remained mysterious,  saying only that her character is a smart, investigative detective, who could be either good or bad.

“It is always fair to say that we don’t know whether someone is bad or good. We are the factory of both…we have it in us both,” Aghdashloo said, gathering her thoughts. “All I can say at this point is that it’s very much unlike any SVU episodes that you’ve seen before.”

Law & Order: SVU is back to its regular time, Wednesdays, 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
