Ivan Reitman, director of 'No Strings Attached' (Paramount Pictures)

Back in the 1980s and early 1990s, Ivan Reitman could do no wrong, thanks to such hits as Ghostbusters, Ghosbusters II, Stripes, Twins, and Dave. However, Reitman’s last several movies (My Super Ex-Girlfriend, Evolution, Six Days Seven Nights) were less than stellar outings.  The director is excited about his latest movie, No Strings Attached, a movie which centers on two longtime buddies (Natalie Portman, Ashton Kutcher) who have sex sans any real attachment.  “I was able to find these wonderful actors, starting with Natalie and Ashton, that could people this very naturalistic comedy,” said Reitman, who produced his son Jason Reitman’s critically acclaimed film, Up in the Air.  “Yes, it’s raunchy and it’s funny and it’s broad at times. But it’s really real people talking to each other about real things.  I found that very exciting to do and very satisfying.”  Reitman admits that he got himself “lost in science fiction” for a spell, and directing No Strings Attached was a “pleasure” for the director.  Click on the media bar and listen to the him talk about the science fiction elements that can be found in most of his work.
