With Season of the Witch, Nicolas Cage and Ron Perlman (Sons of Anarchy) play 14th century Crusaders who transport a supposed witch (Claire Foy) to a remote monastery, where she will be confronted by monks who blame her for the Black Plague. “I’m a fan of movies that are scary and I always have been,” said Cage who also starred in the box-office disappointment The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. “I felt like it was time to try and do one myself and celebrate people like Christopher Lee and Vincent Price, people I grew up with and admired so much. I wanted to try my hand at it. That’s really what led me here.” Unfortunately, Season of the Witch is getting hammered by the critics (EW.com described the film as a “bad wisecracking medieval demonic possession movie”).
