Nicolas Cage and Ron Perlman play 14th century crusaders tasked with transporting a girl (Claire Foy) who’s accused of being a witch to a remote abbey, where she will stand trial for allegedly bringing the Black Plague to those around her. Perlman is no stranger to action, as a cast member of FX’s tough guy driven series Sons of Anarchy and headliner of the two Hellboy films. “We’re working with hard rubber swords or wooden swords. We are swinging for our lives,” said the 60-year-old, who recalls working with the stuntmen on Season of the Witch. “That’s the only way we’re going to print and move on. And at my age you want to print and move on as soon as possible.” The stunt team wrapped several days before Perlman, and the actor made sure he didn’t say goodbye without hanging with his colleagues. “I went out and had a drink the night they were getting wrapped. They were lifting their shirts and pulling down their pants and saying, ‘you did that you son of a…I’m calling your people, I hope you’re ensured!’” Click on the media bar and listen to Perlman talk about the importance of having a back story for Behman (Cage) and Felson (Perlman).
