No less a source than the Washington Post reported yesterday that filmmaker Steven Spielberg was recruited by Nancy Pelosi to help the Democrats rebrand themselves.

However, before the news cycle could circle the Earth twice, Steven Spielberg gave the world a different take altogether.

Spielberg’s spokesman (Marvin Levy) said in a statement that “Today’s story regarding Nancy Pelosi made a reference to Steven Spielberg that requires a response. I can say as a long-time spokesman for Steven that he has made it his career to direct actors, not political figures.”

Either someone wants to keep things secret or reporters are sloppier than they used to be.
