The cast of the hit CBS show “The Big Bang Theory” are feeling awfully happy right now, and it’s not just the result of holiday cheer. According to Deadline.com, each cast member has signed a new contract and received a nice raise. Kunal Nayyar, who plays the loveable Raj Koothrappali, gets an immediate bump from $25,000 to $75,000 per episode, and the contract includes built-in annual raises.
The rest of the cast received raises earlier this year. Simon Helberg, who plays Howard Wolowitz, went from $40,000 to $100,000 per episode, while the show’s three main stars — Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons and Kaley Cuoco — now make $200,000 per episode, a 233% raise over the $60,000 they made before.
There is no doubt that the show is one of the best comedies on television. The show is one of CBS’s biggest hits, a huge revenue-producer that’s already been sold into syndication. So do you feel like the big raises for the show’s cast are justified? Or in an economy where so many are struggling to find or keep jobs, is it frustrating to hear about the huge paychecks these Hollywood stars will be cashing?
