Winona Ryder says that she was at a party 15 years ago where Mel Gibson said “anti-Semitic and homophobic” things (she alleges) that no one apparently cared about at the time.

“Fifteen years ago, I was at one of those big Hollywood parties, and he (Gibson) was really drunk,” the New York Post reported Ryder saying in the January issue of GQ. “I was with my friend, who’s gay. (And Gibson) made a really horrible gay joke. And somehow it came up that I was Jewish (real surname, Horowitz). He said something about ‘oven dodgers,’ but I didn’t get it. I’d never heard that before. It was just this weird, weird moment. I was like, ‘He’s anti-Semitic and he’s homophobic.’ No one believed me.”

Of course it’s safe and really cool to pile on Gibson now, but where was everyone when Mel was still handing out Hollywood jobs?
