Rip Torn (born Elmore Rual Torn, Jr. 79 years ago in Temple, Texas), over half a century an accomplished actor with some of those past years fighting demons.

The latest (and hopefully last) of Torn’s alcohol-related issues ended with the star pleading guilty to breaking into an after-hours bank with an illegal firearm while intoxicated.

Torn’s deal got him three years probation.  In Connecticut where the trespass occurred, the actor could have gotten a minimum of one year hard time. His actual sentence was 2 1/2 years, but that was suspended.

The cops say that Torn broke into the bank thinking it was in fact his own home.
