Fans of Gossip Girl are in for a treat with Country Strong, as Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) is not just a NYC socialite, she’s also a songbird!!  Although Meester has actually done her share of music (she sang on Cobra Starship’s song “Good Girls Go Bad” and released the pop singles “Somebody to Love” and “Your Love’s a Drug”), the actress was profoundly affected by the music featured on Country Strong. “Because of this movie, I started writing music that speaks to me and that was from my heart, and uh…apparently I’m really depressed,” laughs Meester, who plays a singer named Chiles in the picture.  Click on the media bar and listen to Meester elaborate on her love for country music.

Country Strong, co-starring Tron: Legacy actor Garrett Hedlund and Tim McGraw, opens nationwide January 7th (limited release December 22nd).  As for Gossip Girl, no new episodes until January 24th!!  I just hope Blair doesn’t hook up with “Lonely Boy” Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley)!! xoxo!! (much apologies for my Gossip Girl obsession).
