George Lucas is buying the film rights to dead actors to star in his past and future films, was a story that circulated the globe several times.

The source was reportedly attributed to director Mel Smith, and that give the lead legs, but much too late in the information age, one of Lucas‘ creatures finally first-aided the hemorrhage saying that their boss had no (current) plans to bring the dead back to celluloid life.

It’s instructive to read the tenor of conversation when the original story was flying true.  One commenter said that he would buy Lucas‘ digital soul for his own movie to star as the pedaphile Nazi that other actors refused to play.

While it takes little for a slow day in the news to motivate a thin story on any celebrity, Lucas’ megalomanic reputation certainly helped the yarn stay alive for as long as it did.

Of course during the next news cycle we may be reporting about Lucasfilm’s miraculous breakthrough in digital resurrection technology.
