Mean Girls was an immediate international success, so the question remains, why did it take Paramount six years to make the next version?
That maddening question will remain mysterious.
Meanwhile, Mean Girls 2 will grace the ABC Family TV screen on January 23 at 8:00PM ET/PT.
“We’re thrilled to bring the highly-anticipated sequel to the hit film ‘Mean Girls’ to the network,” said Tom Zappala, Executive Vice President, ABC Cable Networks Group. “‘Mean Girls 2’ is a perfect fit for ABC Family’s Millennial audience, who are avid fans of the original film.”
The original Mean Girls starred Lindsay Lohan as Cady Heron who had to maneuver around high school female social cliques (good versus plastic), now continues with Meaghan Martin (Ten Things I Hate About You) as Jo Mitchell, with a new twist on the old plot.
Mean Girls 2 will be available on DVD on February 1, 2011, from Paramount Home Entertainment.
