TV Land must realize that it’s on one heck of a roll with its original sitcom Hot in Cleveland because the cable channel has just green lit two more scripted pilots, Happily Divorced and Rip City.
Happily Divorced is being produced by Fran Drescher and her ex-husband and producing partner on The Nanny, Peter Marc Jacobsen. The story is based on Drescher’s real life and follows how she deals with dating after finding out her ex-husband is gay – along with watching her balance her current boyfriend and her former husband. Art imitating life to be sure.
Rip City is an office comedy written and helmed by Terri Minsky. Rip City takes place in a regional beverage manufacturing and distribution company. After a female boss takes over, the employees are worried and unsure of what will happen.
These two pilots come on the heels of the channel’s announcement of Ex Men, a comedy revolving around three divorced men who live in an apartment together, where the landlord is a sexy and savvy divorce attorney.
TV Land’s previously announced sitcom, Retired at 35 premieres January 19th, 2011, 10:30 p.m. ET/PT, immediately following the second season premiere of Hot in Cleveland.
