Being a (neither proud nor ashamed) carny since birth, I look down on no one (except Trotskyites and agents), so if someone called me a generic ethnic smear word, I would take it as a compliment since it would be an improvement over whatever mongrel breed I actually am.
Enter too-sublime-to-be-human Sofia Vergara, who needs to do nothing more than just stand while others gawk, but has several hidden talents, including acting ability (ABC’s Modern Family).
Apologies to the AP Stylebook (And Libel Manual) for burying the lead on paragraph three:
Ms. Vergara doesn’t write the scripts handed to her, but she’s being criticized by Peruvian pressure groups just the same.
The offensive scene regards Vergara over-talking her TV husband before he insults her native Columbia by attributing the insolent accusations instead to Peru.
I don’t have the sensitive radar that anti-defamation groups carry so I can’t work up feelings of insult from straight-white-male jokes or ad-hominem insults.
Just so long as they don’t say something nasty about Toluca Lake.
