Week two in theaters and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is still bringing in top dollar at the box office. Potter landed in first position, dropped off 59.7 percent and still managed to raise an additional $50.3 million.
Tangled was right on Harry Potter’s heels in second place. The animated feature based on the classic fairytale, Rapunzel grabbed $49.1 million bringing its total to an estimated $69 mil since Wednesday.
It really was Black Friday for Megamind. The animated film proved its worth in its fourth week in theaters. The flick landed in third place raking in an additional $12.8 million bringing its total to $130 mil to date. That’s great news for Paramount and DreamWorks, who produced the pic for $130 million.
Burlesque, which received mostly negative reviews, debuted in fourth place with a paltry $11.8 million between Friday and Sunday. That brings the total box office revenue to $17.1 mil since it hit theaters Wednesday.
Unstoppable hit a wall in its third week in theaters landing in fifth place with $11.7 million. Sure it only dropped 9.7 percent, but with a estimated total take of $60.7 million to date, it is shy of the pic’s $100 mil budget costs. The good news is, because it’s early in the game, there is still plenty of time for Unstoppable to break through the barrier with a hefty profit to boot.
Rounding out the top 10:
6. Love and Other Drugs $9.8 million
7. Faster $8.7 million
8. Due Date $7.3 million
9. The Next Three Days $4.8 million
