Mandy Moore first broke into show business as a successful teen pop star and grew up to headline her share of films (A Walk to Remember, How To Deal, Chasing Liberty).  Moore’s latest creative venture, however, will introduce her to a new generation of fans.  “I grew up loving Disney films and being a complete Disney nerd,” said Mandy Moore, who plays Rapunzel in the upcoming Disney 3D animated film Tangled. “But seriously those were such seminal parts of my childhood: The Little Mermaid and Aladdin, The Lion King, and Beauty and the Beast. Now to realize I’m part of that lineage, that history and the Disney family tree, it’s still pretty crazy to me.”

Along with the honor of being part of the Disney universe, Moore also worked with acclaimed composer Alan Menken, who guided her through the musical challenges for Tangled. “I had never recorded in character before, and I didn’t realize the challenge that lies within recording in character,” said the actress, who said she would have been `floundering’ and `lost’ without his collaboration.  “I just expected and was excited to be a part of it and I love Disney films.  How often do you get to do acting and singing in the same project?  There is a total different approach.  I couldn’t go into the studio just approaching these songs as if they were songs on my own record.”  Tangled opens November 24th, and click on the media bar and listen to Moore describe her similarities (and differences) with Rapunzel.
