Academy Award®-winning actress Helen Mirren will receive the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at The Hollywood Reporter’s 19th annual Women in Entertainment Breakfast, presented by Lifetime, THR editorial director Janice Min announced today.
CBS Evening News anchor and managing editor Katie Couric and Academy Award®-winner Halle Berry will participate in the presentation, which takes place Tuesday, Dec. 7 at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
The special event is held annually in conjunction with the publication of The Hollywood Reporter’s “Power 100: Women in Entertainment” special issue, which highlights the top 100 women in the motion picture, television and related industries.
“Almost two decades ago, THR began honoring the inroads women were beginning to make in the entertainment business,” said Janice Min, editorial director of The Hollywood Reporter. “The good news is, each year our list becomes more difficult to deliberate.”
The Sherry Lansing Leadership Award is presented annually to a woman of unusual distinction and originality who has carved a unique career and at the same time contributed significantly to the social good. It is named after the pioneering executive and former chairman of Paramount Pictures who now runs her own foundation. Mirren joins past recipients Barbara Walters, Meryl Streep, Jodie Foster, Jodie Foster and Berry.
Mirren is a prolific stage, film and television actress who has received numerous awards for her exceptional work over the years. She is a four-time Academy Award nominee having received nominations for her supporting roles in The Madness of King George and Gosford Park and for her leading turn in The Last Station. In 2006, Mirren won the best actress Oscar for her performance in The Queen. The role also garnered her a BAFTA and Golden Globe Award.
