Dwayne Johnson as "Driver" in "Faster" (CBS Films)

Dwayne Johnson hasn’t been on my radar the past several years, as Tooth Fairy, Race to Witch Mountain, the animated film Planet 51 and The Game Plan are not the type of films I’m itching to watch.  The Scorpion King, Walking Tall, Doom, and most of all, The Rundown, are films that are right up my wheelhouse.  Most of my twenties were spent watching Mr. Johnson climb his way up the WWF (now the WWE) ladder as The Rock, as he devastated opponents his signature move, “the people’s elbow.”  The Rock’s biggest asset, however, were his excellent mic skills and delivery, and his innate charisma has turned him into one of Hollywood biggest stars.  With Faster, Mr. Johnson brings some of that swagger back, as he plays a prison vet who decides to eliminate the thugs who killed his brother during a bank robbery gone sour.  The picture, which also stars Billy Bob Thornton as a soon to be retired cop on a mission to stop the one-man wrecking crew, opens November 24th, just in time for Turkey Day.  Next year, Johnson stars in the latest installment of the Fast & Furious franchise, Fast Five (opening April 29th), which has him up against Vin Diesel and Paul Walker.
