Here’s a new twist on the old industry cattle call: Oxygen Media is holding open auditions for The Glee Project.

The hit FOX series Glee (Tuesdays, 8:00 p.m. ET/PT) will begin casting The Glee Project with open calls in Chicago, Saturday, December 18th and Sunday, December 19th with additional dates added in Dallas, Saturday, January 8th and Sunday, January 9th.

The casting team will also be looking out for the next wave of professional performers through official industry channels to ensure everyone is included in this opportunity. Translation: the competition will be stiff, so be prepared to sing, act and dance - all with big personalities.  Musical theater experience is a plus, but not required.

Planning on auditioning? Then you have to be at least 18 years old (but able to play a teenager). You’ll also need to be legally eligible to work in the United States. So, bring proof.  And candidates must be available for work beginning around January, 2011 and running through April, 2011 - and be willing to travel as part of production.

The Glee Project, where performers will compete for a multi-episode guest-starring role on season three of the series Glee, will premiere on Oxygen in June 2011.
