Last December, I spent most of my Christmas vacation holed up in my apartment wiling the hours away on Fallout 3, and even though it was released back in 2008, the title still had me on the hook, whetting my appetite for the next installment in the franchise. Bethesda Softworks’ latest offering, Fallout: New Vegas (Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Games for Windows) has surpassed over $300 million in retail sales, which translates to a multitude of gamers who share my obsession for this post apocalyptic universe. Fallout: New Vegas has a slew of voice talent, including returning Fallout participant Ron Perlman (Sons of Anarchy, Hellboy), as well as newbies Zachary Levi (Chuck), Matthew Perry, and Mr. Sin City himself, Wayne Newton. If you’re not clued in on the wonders of Fallout: New Vegas (ESRB rating: Mature), Entertainment Weekly writer Darren Franich believes the game’s “central genius is that every death feels like another nail in the coffin in the American Dream.” I don’t dream too much these days, especially since Vegas is always on my mind.
