I haven’t been completely swept away by a Nicole Kidman film since the first rate 2004 drama Birth, but Rabbit Hole has the makings of a winner.  Based on the Pulitzer Prize winning play from David Lindsay-Abaire (who also penned the script), the film deals with a suburban couple (Nicole Kidman, Aaron Eckhart) who are left adrift after the tragic loss of their son.  Howie Corbett (Eckhart) is holding onto the memory of his child and thinking of another woman (Grey’s Anatomy’s Sandra Oh), and Becca (Kidman) reaches out to the teenager (Miles Teller) who accidentally killed her son.   Sex and the City actress Cynthia Nixon won a Tony for the role, and one would assume that Kidman is a shoo-in for a Best Actress Oscar nod.  The film opens in select theaters December 17th, and here is the trailer, which features the Broken Bells tune, “The High Road” as well as some excellent acting (albeit in snippets) from Kidman.
