“They’re the men who inspire the rest of us to become Better Men,” The AskMen.com. website breathlessly pontificates.

Well, according to AskMen.com blogheads, The Daily Show host Jon Stewart (born Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz) won the Most Influential Man of 2010 contest.

Interesting that out of 6.5 billion Earthlings that a Comedy Central comedian would win this honor.  Until you look at some the runner ups.

Numbers two through five are Microsoft chairman Bill Gates, Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs and rapper Kanye West.

Much of the coveted honors are graced with stand-up comics, activist actors and sports figures.

To give you an idea of the mixed bag of winners for this thing, you’ll find gay folk hero Steve Slater at # 49, David Letterman makes 38, Eminem at 24.  Stephen Colbert as #11, and Canadian Department of Finance Mark Carney (no relation to Carny Mike Cartel) somewhere in the middle.

“It seems that this year in particular, our readers have chosen unlikely influencers; guys who don’t always play by the rules, and in many cases, created their own norms in opposition to the current times,”  AskMen chief editor James Bassil, said. “Jon Stewart earned his title by speaking frankly, and in the process, successfully engaging millions of ordinary citizens in politics.”

If you actually go to the AskMen.com site you’ll get overwhelmed with an impressive plethora of Norelco razor commercials disguised at girlie teases, and then rewarded with (I’m guessing) the usual AskMen busty, fantasy things with snarling pouts in tropical island cometobedwithme moods.

AskMen.com was founded in August 1999 by three graduates of Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business in Montreal, Canada.

As a footnote to history, Tiger Woods didn’t make the top 49 list this time and President Barack Obama fell from number 4 to 21 this midterm election year.
