With the new film Fair Game, actress Naomi Watts takes on the rather daunting task of playing former CIA agent Valerie Plame, a woman whose identity was compromised after columnist Robert Novak revealed her covert status back in 2003. Sean Penn plays Plame’s husband Joe Wilson, who wrote a New York Times op-ed piece questioning the Bush administration’s intelligence gathering on the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. “Going into her job as a covert agent she expected risks of being exposed by another government but to have it done to you by your own (government) is such an injustice,” said Watts, who should receive an Oscar nod for her work as Plame. Click on the media bar and listen to Naomi give her thoughts on Valerie Plame, who these days resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico with Wilson, far from the political trappings of Washington D.C. Fair Game opens nationwide November 5th.
