The opening night at the 14th Annual Hollywood Film Festival will be a bit more warm and fuzzy this year. Little Bear, a Queensland Healer dog fostered by former President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan, will make his movie debut in First Dog - just one of the films kicking off the festival this year.
The story revolves around Teddy the First Dog (Little Bear), who is accidentally left behind at a Presidential dedication ceremony. The pooch is found by a foster kid (John-Paul Howard), who realizes Teddy is the pet of the President (Eric Roberts). But he can’t seem to convince anyone else to believe he’s telling the truth. Naturally, it leads to a cross-country trek to return Teddy to the President.
The pic also features animal lover and pet food entrepreneur, actor Dick Van Patten, in a cameo appearance as a pet food driver. Bryan Michael Stoller (Filmmaking for Dummies) directs - with songs by Country Music superstar, Dolly Parton.
Opening night of the film festival is October 22nd beginning 9:00 p.m. PT at the ArcLight Cinemas on Sunset Boulevard.
