Morgan Freeman, announced this week as the next recipient of the American Film Institute’s lifetime achievement award, co-stars as a retired CIA agent in the action-comedy RED, a Bruce Willis headlined film that opens Friday. The 73-year-old, who took home a Supporting Actor Oscar for Clint Eastwood’s Million Dollar Baby (he also received an Oscar nod for his work in the Eastwood directed Invictus and was Clint’s right hand man in the classic Western Unforgiven), has had a stellar career and has no plans of retiring anytime soon.  “I’m like George Burns, I expect to be working into my late nineties because they’re going to figure out a way to use me just as a corpse,” said Freeman.  “They’ll do that.  Once you get too old to work I think you’re too old to do anything so you might as well lie down somewhere.  That’s my thinking.”  If you have seen most of Freeman’s most popular films and are looking for something under the radar, check out Under Suspicion, a 2000 thriller which had him going toe to toe with his Unforgiven co-star Gene Hackman. Directed by Stephen Hopkins (The Ghost and the Darkness), the story centers on a police captain (Freeman) who questions a well to do attorney (Hackman) on the rape and murder of two young girls in Puerto Rico.  Co-starring Monica Bellucci as the lawyer’s neglectful wife and Hung’s Thomas Janes as the captain’s over anxious sidekick, Under Suspicion is worth a look if cat and mouse type of stories are your thrill.  Click on the media bar and listen to Freeman elaborate on his decision not to retire like his RED character.
