One of this year’s most critically beloved freshman shows is Fox’s Raising Hope. From the mind of My Name Is Earl creator Greg Garcia, the single camera comedy deals with a 23-year-old slacker named Jimmy (Lucas Neff) who, after a one night stand with a convicted felon (she ends up getting electrocuted for murder), raises their baby daughter Hope. Martha Plimpton and Deadwood’s Garret Dillahunt are Jimmy’s somewhat dimwitted parents, pool cleaner Burt and Virginia, and award winning actress Cloris Leachman is his dementia ridden grandmother, Maw Maw. “Lucas is just such a doll,” said Plimpton. “I mean he’s just sweet and every loving. Every morning he greets you as if he hasn’t seen you in months and at the end of the day, he says goodbye like he’s not going to see you again for years. Do you know what I mean? It’s really sweet, it’s very dear.” Click on the media bar and listen to Plimpton also talk about working with Dillahunt and Leachman on Raising Hope, which airs tonight (Fox, 9 pm et/pt).
