Gemma Arterton in "Tamara Drewe"
Gemma Arterton has worked on such big budget films as Clash of the Titans and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, but it’s her portrayal of an alluring and emotionally complex woman in Tamara Drewe which could gain her the most attention. Tamara (Arterton) was once an ugly duckling, but thanks to a nose job and a a bit more confidence she returns to her hometown the object of several men’s desires. She shacks up with a popular drummer named Ben (Dominic Cooper), a conceited rock star who falls in lust with Tamara upon their initial meeting (Tamara is a journalist and was assigned to interview him). Other men vying for the young lady’s attentions include her childhood love Andy (Luke Evans) and a womanizing novelist (Roger Allam). Which of these three guys will Tamara choose, and how many lives does she destroy in the process?
