Not long after scheduled at the New York Recovery Rally for National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month, former drinker Greg Giraldo reportedly overdosed.
Giraldo was reportedly in the middle of a party in his Jersey hotel room when he seemed uncharacteristically quiet (that is, unresponsive). The attorney, scholar, TV personalty and successful comedian was resuscitated and ambulanced to the nearest hospital in critical condition (according to the New York Post).
Five years ago Giraldo told Conan O’Brien on TV that his heavy drinking days were over. Spokespersons for Giraldo said that the incident on Saturday night involved an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.
Giraldo at 44 has been a regular on television with his rhythmic, fast-rant delivery, including the judge on Last Comic Standing and his own show, Friday Night Stand-Up with Greg Giraldo.
