It’s easy to be a tad envious of Michael Douglas. The son of prodigious actor Kirk Douglas (Spartacus, Paths of Glory), the younger Douglas has carved out an impressive career of his own, having produced a classic film (One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Next), won an Oscar (Wall Street), hung out with Karl Malden (The Streets of San Francisco), and tangled with the formidable Glenn Close (Fatal Attraction). However, Douglas’ fortitude in dealing with his throat cancer, lawsuit from his ex-wife, and the incarceration of his son may be his most impressive feat to date. Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps opens Friday, and one would assume the film will do boffo business at the box office (who doesn’t want to spend a weekend with “Gordon Gekko”). Douglas could use a little good news these days, and a hit film should put a smile on his face. Click on the media bar to hear Mr. Douglas give his take on his rather trying year.
