143Ryan Reynolds, who had a productive 2009 with The Proposal and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, pushes himself to the limit with Buried, his most dramatic work since Smokin’ Aces. The thriller features Reynolds as a contract truck driver in Iraq who is buried alive and will soon die if he doesn’t come up with $5 million in ransom money. Armed with just a cell phone, a lighter, and a knife, the driver desperately tries to stay alive in the coffin.  Shooting the low budget film was not a walk in the park for the actor, who admitted that being trapped in a confined space wasn’t exactly his idea of fun.  “I had my moments of utter panic that were soothed in different ways,” said Reynolds, who will also be seen next summer in Green Lantern. “One woman was playing all the roles practically when we were shooting so I had a microphone very close to my chest and she would hear a panic attack starting because she can hear my heart rate accelerating when we weren’t shooting.” Buried opens in limited release Friday and nationwide October 8th.
