Andrew Garfield’s days of obscurity ended when he was announced as the lead for the next Spider-Man flick, which will be directed by 500 Days of Summer filmmaker Marc Webb. Before Spidey fans get a taste of Garfield’s webslinging, they can also check him out in the new film Never Let Me Go (a drama he recently promoted at the Toronto Film Festival) and the highly anticipated film The Social Network, in which Garfield plays Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin. Can Garfield help us forget that Tobey Maguire was pretty much the perfect choice to play Peter Parker?  Probably not, but at least Garfield knows a thing or two about Spider-Man’s history, and he claims to be a diehard fan of the friendly neighborhood Marvel Comics icon.  Plus the Brit actor really upped his cool factor by starring in a poignant, Spike Jonze directed flick about two robots in love which was shot in one of my favorite suburbs in Southern California (Eagle Rock).  Let’s at least give Mr. Garfield the benefit of the doubt, as he drops a little knowledge about all things Spidey.
