Joaquin Phoenix while playing crazy

Joaquin Phoenix while playing crazy

After admitting that his Joaquin Phoenix mockumentary, I’m Still Here was a (not too cunning) deception,  Casey Affeck (Born Caleb Casey McGuire Affleck-Boldt) swiftly settled two sexual harassment cases filed by workers on the film.

Producer Amanda White sued Affleck for $2.25 million and cinematographer Magdalena Gorka demanded $2 million.  The lawsuits were abruptly “resolved” and the suits “dismissed” about the time that the I’m Still Here sham admission and the phoenix idiot act were losing PR impetus.

Was this another Affleck hoax or just a very expensive series of clumsy passes?  When someone begins lying (even the expedient exaggeration kind) they may not know when to stop.  Of course, multiple unwanted advances, groped by a child in an adult’s body may not be the kind of publicity that Affleck fashioned.  If he Afflack really wanted to milk this thing, he’d see it to trial and garnish newstime for months.

The documents presented in the suit stated that Afflack (who is married to Phoenix’s sister Summer, with two children) allegedly refused salary payment to White because she wouldn’t spend time in a hotel room with him.  Gorka claimed that she woke to find Affeck under the covers with her in bed.

Affleck’s lawyer denied the allegations as extortion of his client for easy money.  Still, no settlement details were revealed and all are said to be satisfied with the resolution.  Whether really real or really scripted, all will be revealed in Affleck’s next likely film, The Making of I’m Still Here; Joaquin’s Hell, Casey’s Story, the Director’s Cut.
