Roger Ebert, who began the At the Movies film review program on PBS some 30 years ago is heading back to PBS for round two of the weekly movie review series – but as a producer along with his wife, Chaz Ebert who is co-producing the project.

The new series Roger Ebert Presents At the Movies will go back to the original format he made famous, but will have two new hosts: Christy Lemire from the Associated Press and Elvis Mitchell from NPR.

Nice timing on the part of Ebert – the final episode of the revamped syndicated series was broadcast less than a month ago.

At the Movies underwent changes after the death of Ebert’s fellow reviewer Gene Siskel (from complications arising after surgery to remove a cancerous brain tumor). A number of other reviewers rotated on the panel and eventually the permanent seat was given to Richard Roeper.

The show was revamped again with Ben Lyons and Ben Mankiewicz and finally tweaked again by adding film reviewers Michael Phillips and A.O. Scott, but the updated format wasn’t as viable as the original.
