Ronald Reagan’s life will be getting a big screen workup for a biopic set for release next year according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The movie will be titled, not surprisingly, Reagan and will be based on two biographies of President Reagan, The Crusader and God and Ronald Reagan.
It won’t be a hit piece either like the Showtime mini series production The Reagans that produced such controversy back in 2003. It will begin with the assassination attempt that nearly claimed Reagan’s life in 1981, and will also use flashbacks and flash-forwards to tell the 40th president’s story.
The filmmakers have formed a production company named Rawhide Pictures, which pays tribute to the Secret Service code name for President Reagan.
The movie, which has a $30 million budget is set for a 2011 release.
