Toy Story 3 is still so smoking hot that its just reached the $1 billion mark in theaters worldwide. This is the first time an animated feature has had that distinction as well as being the seventh movie in industry history to reach that goal. Toy Story 3 has earned $404,919,000. domestically and $595,600,000. internationally for a total box office take of $1,000,519,000. to date.

The accomplishment is a landmark for Walt Disney Studios to be sure, but it is not the only milestone. Disney has officially become the first studio with two $1 billion films in one year.

The other pic making a huge noise for the studio is the Tim Burton fantasy, Alice in Wonderland, starring Johnny Depp. Alice was released March 5th and between March 5th through March 7th, the film managed to land the biggest March opening in history, the highest 3D opening ever and Disney’s biggest opening for a non-sequel film. Alice held the number one spot in theatres for several weeks, while internationally the flick went on to grab more than $690 million. Worldwide, the film has taken in $1.0243 billion, ranking it as the number five film in global box office history.

Congrats to Disney, a company that clearly has a reason to celebrate.
