(ABC/BOB D'AMICO) BARBARA WALTERS

Barbara Walters is returning to 20/20 for a special report on Progeria next month entitled When Seven Looks Like 70.

Progeria is a condition that currently affects 68 known children worldwide. The disease, which is fatal, causes rapid aging in children – 10 times the normal rate. It is extremely rare and occurs in only one in 4 to 8-million births.

Walters will follow the lives of three young, along with their families, who are dealing with the disease daily.

Walters will also interview one of the oldest surviving children, whose body may reveal the secrets of her aging. The average life expectancy of children with Progeria is 13 years old.

The special 20/20 report, When Seven Looks Like 70 will air September 10th, 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
