X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner divulged to CraveOnline.com that a proposed Magneto film is not going to happen, as much that project’s storyline has been incorporated in her latest venture, X-Men: First Class.  Inglourious Basterds actor Michael Fassbender is playing Magneto in the picture, which is being directed by Kick-Ass filmmaker Matthew Vaughn (aka the original director of X-Men: The Last Stand before being replaced by Brett Ratner).  With James McAvoy signed on as Professor X and Vaughn at the helm, X-Men: First Class will hopefully make us forget X-Men: The Last Stand and last year’s flawed X-Men Origins: Wolverine (when Deadpool essentially steals your film from Wolverine, then you know you have problems!!).  Seeing Ian McKellen play Magneto one more time would have been a blast, but hopefully Fassbender has enough gravitas to play the world’s most manipulative (and magnetic) mutant.
