
Sylvester Stallone co-wrote the screenplay to his hit film The Expendables, and initially the mercenaries for hire story had much more complexity to it, and Stallone initially thought it would be his version of The Bourne Identity. But Stallone knows a summer audience really wants to see action and a simple yet solid storyline. So he went back to the basics, and gave viewers his version of The Seven Samurai, The Dirty Dozen, and The Wild Bunch. Although it’s nowhere near the quality of those films, The Expendables is kicking serious butt in the box-office (and it beat the other big guys film of the summer, The A-Team).
