It’s been 33 years since the release of Star Wars, and producer/director George Lucas is still amazed at his franchise’s impact on cinema and pop culture.  Lucas was inspired by writer Joseph Cambell’s book The Hero With A Thousand Faces as well as director Akira Kurosawa’s The Hidden Fortress, and that gumbo pot of influences inspired him to create Star Wars.  (Click on the media clip to hear Lucas’ reaction to the continued popularity of the Star Wars universe)
