It was a while ago, February of this year to be exact, but Tim Jones, one of the four singer/songwriters of the group Truth & Salvage Company, still has nightmares about his experience after a recent concert. Jones woke up to police and hotel security ripping him out of bed back in February of this year.
Jones was a registered guest for the night at a Mariott Hotel in Visalia, California in addition to being a Mariott Rewards member. He was handcuffed, assaulted, taking to jail and cited for trespassing and resisting arrest.
Not surprising, Jones has filed his own lawsuit against Marriott Hotel Corporation on four counts, including negligence, negligent supervision, assault and battery.
The singer/songwriter spent a night in jail and was released at noon the next morning, but the incident has had a lasting effect. Jones says “I kept telling them that I was a registered guest but they acted as if they couldn’t hear a word I was saying.”
The incident got even stranger on the day Jones was to appear in court to answer the charges. His legal representation discovered that the D.A.’s office hadn’t even filed charges against Jones. Police have refused to release their incident report to the Jordan Law Group, PLC, Truth and Salvage Company’s legal team. Attorney Vahe Jordan said “We’re hopeful that Marriott will accept responsibility for the way they treated Jones, who has been a loyal customer for many years.”
Jones had no outstanding warrants; wasn’t suspected nor accused of any crime prior to the assault by the Hotel and the Visalia Police. He later received medical treatment for injuries sustained during the arrest.
So why bring this up now?
Truth & Salvage Company is set to make their national TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live this Thursday, August 19th. No doubt the incident will be a big topic of conversation.
