The Big Valley TV series is being made into a feature film starring a who’s who list of actors. Everyone from Jessica Lange and Richard Dreyfuss to True Blood’s hunky vampire Stephen Moyer and Aiden Quinn is onboard…even Lee Majors who starred as Heath Barkley in the 1960s western.
The original drama starred the late, great film star Barbara Stanwick as the tough matriarch, Victoria Barkley – a coup for television to be sure. So it’s quite simply a smart decision to load the pic up with a group of A-listers.
Still, Linda Evans, who played Audra Barkley in the television show isn’t sure that’s all necessary, though it is a good thing. Evans points out that The Big Valley was such a great premise it could easily translate to the big screen – even without Barbara Stanwick.

The Big Valley is in production and set for a 2011 release.
