
Moviegoers went for the laughs in theaters this weekend. The Will Ferrell/Mark Wahlberg comedy, The Other Guys grossed an estimated $35.6 million between Friday and Sunday and took the number one position.
Inception, the Leonardo DiCaprio sci-fi thriller, still showed significant numbers in its four week out. The pic grabbed an additional $18.6 million bringing its estimated total to $227.7 mil, well over the film’s $160 million budget.
Step Up 3D, the third installment in the successful franchise, danced its way into third position with $15.5 million in box office revenue between its midnight showing early Friday morning through Sunday.
Salt dropped another 43 percent this week, but still landed in fourth position with $11.1 million. That brings Salt’s receipts to an estimated $91.8 million in three weeks, which is just shy of the $110 mil it cost to produce.
Dinner for Schmucks slipped to fifth place and dropped 55.4 percent with a $10.5 million take over the weekend. Schmucks had a budget of $69 million, which means it has recouped an estimated $46.7 mil so far.
