The teaser trailer for The Smurfs features a slight glimpse of the diminutive blue crew, and the picture should find an audience when it comes out next summer.  Here’s our trepidation: director Raja Gosnell, whose movies include Beverly Hills Chihuahua, the two middling Scooby Doo films, and Big Momma’s House, is helming the picture!!  This writer does admit Never Been Kissed is a guilty pleasure, but Gosnell is a far cry from being a compelling filmmaker.  Hank Azaria is playing “Gargamel” in the film, so at least Gosnell scored points with that decision!!
