It is hard to believe that it has been eight seasons since Clay Aiken was the runner up to Ruben Studdard on American Idol. Since then, Clay Aiken’s career has not exactly been smooth sailing. He has released a few albums which received positive reviews, but which had a hard time finding their niche on top 40 radio. Aiken also had a rough time a few years ago when he was targeted by the tabloids and had his private life invaded, but that didn’t stop Aiken from pursing his dream in music. He found success on Broadway starring in the Monty Python musical Spamalot, where he received fantastic reviews.
Today Aiken’s career is strong. His new album, Tried And True is out, and he is currently on tour with Reuben Studdard. Through it all, Aiken’s loyal fans have stuck with him. We caught up with Aiken and asked him what his fans mean to him. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR BELOW TO HERA CLAY AIKEN)

His fans are loyal because he’s a great singer, a funny comedian, a true humanitarian, and a really nice guy.
Plus his concerts are a total blast, he’s cute, and that danged accent is easy to listen to.

We are loyal because Clay Aiken is the best thing out there!!
As we like to stay, we came for the voice and stayed for the man.
PS Clay’s humility is just so very refreshing as well.

I gave up trying to figure out why years ago and decided to accept that fact that it is what it is. Clay makes me smile and I never get tired of listening to him sing. His sense of humor makes me laugh. He’s one of the good guys in a world that can get nasty at times, so it’s all good. With all the Hollywood type excesses front and center in the news, he’s a breath of fresh air.

The few albums he released sold over 6 million copies, so that isn’t exactly the roughest of times. Why am I a loyal fan? Eight years ago when I was the ripe old age of 20, this man walked into my heart and won’t leave. His voice, his hilarious humor, his charisma…….and also he’s damn sexy. So I’m loyal.

Clay Aiken is an extremely talented musician, intelligent man with a very kind heart. His witty comments during interviews and during concerts makes people smile and laugh. This concert is a must see for me. I am not a Claymate, but I may be soon.

3.Active humanitarian
4.Nice man
5.Handsome
Nobody is like Clay Aiken…..he is one of a kind!!

Well , almost 8 years ago this skinny freckle-faced, red-headed tall drink of water with a voice that could melt all of Alaska stole my heart for all eternity! Clay had that ‘it’ factor which was captivating. He says he can’t figure it out , …..that is how you know you have “IT” …. Clay just leaves us wanting more of “IT”!
The concert is hilarious . I love seeing the two of them together!

As others have indicated, I came for the voice but stayed for the man. Actually both — because Clay Aiken is an extremely talented entertainer with incredible pipes and a quick wit. He is charitable, intelligent, and an articulate advocate for worthwhile charities and causes. One of a kind!

Maybe because when we were first introduced to Clay Ameican Idol tried to stereotype him as not the right look to be a pop star. However, when he sang you knew he had talent. His voice is special and the image change was unbelieveable. I think he stayed true to himself and week after week never sang a bad note. It really doesn’t matter who won the contest because he prove that talent and motivation can translate into success. Radio is not really an absolute factor anymore. There are other ways to promote your music. Televison is major way to reach a mass audience and Broadway has also been positve to Clay and other idols. I hope he continues to stay true to who he is.

Clay’s fans appreciate great music, an amazing voice, an amazing person. Clay may be overwhelmed at times but he should be used to us by now! LOL Oh, btw–Clay was the real winner of AI2; NOT the runner-up. Majority of his fans, and many others, know what happened ‘that night’-and Clay has proven it 1000 times over in the past 7 years!!!!

Why are we loyal fans? Well, first of all, I would have to say because he is beautiful inside and out. When you hear that voice it is enough to melt your heart. He is very charismatic and he stands out on that stage. He is also very into inclusion for children with or without disabilities, is a Unicef Ambassador and has traveled to many countries to help out. You couldn’t ask for a better man than Clay Aiken. He is the true measure of a man.

Clay has released 5 different albums (including his Christmas ones) & sold over 6 million, written a top selling book, appeared on Broadway in Spamalot to rave reviews, has visited Uganda & Somalia, to name a couple, as UNICEF Ambassador working for children. He co-founded the National Inclusion Project for children with disabilities to be included at summer camps. All of that along with an unbelievable talent and voice like no other. Not bad to look at either! And he owns the stage. How could we no be loyal fans? He may not get it — but we know why.

Clay Aiken is one of a kind and he’s taught me so much about life (which is amazing, considering he’s much younger than I am). One of the first rules he taught was ignore. Just because someone says something it doesn’t make it true. He’s taken so much in his short life and he stands with his head held high amid lies, rumors and downright hatred.
Add his incredible talent and heart into the mix and you have a jewel.

Someone name….Hi dude..His b/f posted pics of himself nude in bed with a nude guy before Clay broke up with him. The people who had access to his Facebook saw them and posted them on some fan boards. We all saw them. Clay is too much of a gentleman to tell his side of the story, but chorus boy b/f keeps whining to anyone who will listen. They weren’t married, engaged or bonded in any way. It was a breakup the same as any that happen every minute of every day. Just thought you should know this before you make a statement such as you made.

Clay’s a good guy, great singer. One of the ones you hear and see and think something special, unique is there and believe that not only do you like them and are entertained, but others will too, and give the emerging talent, a good career. I saw Clay as a star. I saw Chris Daughtry as one. Michael Johns. Underwood. Archie. This year in S9, Siobhan Magnus hit me as someone special, unique, a possible future star. In music or on stage, as Clay did.
Not that my predictions are perfect. I am waiting….on Michael Johns, Elliot Yamin. But Siobhan is a lock for selling me her 1st CD when she’s ready, and I have a certainty that she will also be Broadway some day.

I go from a being 56yr old grandma to a squealing 15yr old schoolgirl when I see Clay in concert and I HAVE seen Clay perform a LOT over these past years.
I told myself that I only wanted to see Clay perform one time so that I could say that I saw him live…Ha, that one time led to about 30 times and still counting.
Darn that Clay with his southern accent, southern charm and that dang voice.
Yes, I have drank the “Clay-Aid” and doggone it, it is mighty tasty!
Clay is a one of a kind talent.
Ruben won American Idol and he has all of my respect. I wish some of Clay’s fans would “let it go” because, Clay and Ruben sure seem to be “over it” as well. Heck these guys use that as fodder during their concert. Good for them!
After all of these years, who in the heck cares. It is soooo over. There are too many things in this world that are more important than who won American Idol back in 2003.
Clay and Ruben, I wish you both well on your careers and I am looking forward to seeing you perform next week.

There isn’t another talent out there comparable to Clay. He is a gifted entertainer, comedian and guess what, he can really sing. Its hard to say his albums were so so because they didn’t hit top 40’s. Having an album sell 613,000 in one week, and a holiday album go platinum and another album gold. I would say that was pretty darn good on name alone.

He doesn’t understand it because he is not the person that he portrayed himself to be. I’m not talking about his sexuality. I’m talking about how he has treated the fans. You think his insults are snark but they are completely serious. Stop deluding yourself and wake up! He is not ultra-religious, he’s not a nice person. Even those who knew him before he was on AI report that he was an a$$hole even back then before he became famous. Not to mention his trolling gay websites and picking up multiple partners. He has no redeeming characteristics!
I do not dispute that he has a beautiful voice, it’s just his less than kind personality that ruins the whole package. Not pretentious? Oh please! He is the very picture of pretentiousness. A great guy? Tell that to the fans who he was so nasty to in the meet and greets! He’s a complete jerk!
Wake up and quit drinking the Kool-aid!

His concerts are fun events. He has a voice like no other. He’s funny and cute. He does a lot of good things for a lot of people less fortunate than him.
If he has a bad day now and then, well who among us is perfect? With some of the ultra needy fans he has, I’d be pissy with them, too. As for ‘multiple partners’ - trouble makers can say anything they like on the internet and lots of folks believe it. Doesn’t make it true at all.
As a fan, all I ask for is a good concert, a good sounding CD and he’s never failed to deliver both.
Keep on keeping on Mr. Aiken. Hope you’ll be around for a long, long time.
By the way - the Clay and Ruben tour is not to be missed. Some funny stuff there along with some really good singing.

Anytime you are trying to do good, there will aways be haters. Unfortunately, it’s a measure of success. There is so much jealousy out there. I may not be one of the ones who was there from the beginning, but when I heard Clay’s beautiful voice, I was left stunned & totally hooked. I love the way he has remained true to himself & how he has evolved & is ever-evolving. I understand he is not without fault as none of us are. That makes him human. As far as the tabloid stuff, I’ll believe it when I hear it from his mouth.

I was the biggest fan there ever was but I have found out through a bunch of people who were even bigger fans that he’s not nice at all. I was dragged kicking and screaming my love for him into reality by a friend who shared details about just how mean he is. He pulled the wool over my eyes at first but no longer. He cares nothing for his fans, take a look at his interviews with an honest eye. He does not like his fans at all.
He is not compassionate, he’s selfish. He’s not the worlds most wonderful person, he treats people like dirt. This opinion is based on observations from me who was a fan from the start. No more. Wake up and face reality, he’s not what you insist he is and no, I’m not a hater. I started out as a devoted fan and he destroyed my loyalty.
He doesn’t care about anyone but himself and that’s a fact. Go tell the people he was so nasty to in meet and greets, people who paid for those meet and greets and were treated to his nastiness. They used to think he was wonderful but don’t anymore. His “snark” is not snark, he’s serious. Wake up, people
By the way, who is jealous? Just because I opened my eyes to what he really is all about, what do I have to be jealous of? Not a thing! He was rotten from the start and we were all played for a fool.

I’m in agreement with PlayedForAFool
I too was a huge fan and went to many many concerts. It was so neat to have someone so refreshing and not embarrassed to express his faith etc. The voice was amazing. I was hooked.
Along the way I soon began to have doubts as far as this goody goody appearance. I always suspected he was gay so that was never an issue for me. It was the way he treated his fans and employees and former friends.
I have met people that have had first hand experiences with him. A few were crying after their meet and greets. Something is wrong when time after time you hear story after story. These stories are from fans that were once the biggest in the fandom and had been to multiple concerts.
Why is it that some of you always come to his defence. He’s even said in the past not to do that. The same fans that defended him as not being gay are now defending him for being gay.. Shaking my head on that one.
I mean really, I used to do the same thing. No matter what behavior…putting his hand over Kelly Rippa’s mouth, talking about farts at his concert, bringing things up in a concert that needed not be pointed out…Case in point Orlando show during The summer concert tour when a few fans were being bullied and he brought out the black race card. I was shocked and the NJU’s sitting next to me were less than amused.
No matter what he does ,, you excuse his behavior. It reminds me of Jim Jones and his KoolAid followers.. What is it going to take for you to realize that he really is not very nice. I remember one christmas concert when he said he was having nightmares about his fans. He meant that! The man is gay! Why would he want a bunch of middle aged women fawning over him? He doesn’t like it and would make fun of you backstage at Spamalot. He’s not snarking…he is making fun of you. He has made a lot of money off his fans and that’s all he cares about. Talk to people in Raleigh NC. You will find out soon enough. Lord knows I live very near that city and every time I go there I hear not so nice stories about him being in a store and acting very much the self absorbed Diva that he is.
You are all stuck in 2003 and need to get yourselves out of this fantasy. Start doing more family things and spend more money on them and less on him. Your family is the one that needs your money.. Certainly not him. I dare for any of you to dispute that fact. If you families are complaining about your obesession…then something is wrong. It’s not them IT IS YOU!! It took me 5 years to come to my senses..

The voice, how can one hear that voice and not love it? Following that, how can one learn about this giving, wonderful person that has helped to found an organization that focusses on including those who are always being pushed to one side, someone who has gone to other countrys to bat for children, someone who marches to his own drum… and not grow to appreciate and care for the man?
And … people can we keep his former Boyfriend out of this topic we do not love Clay because of who he was in a relationship with! Go find another thread. We do not need to speculate. It’s not our business.
Back to the Clayy loving.

Dian S, bubblebuster, Playd for a fool.
convince me. I do not think Clay’s perfect. I think he has been sometimes rude to the press; though not to Kelly Rippa. His sarcasm sometimes borders on over the top. I’m sure there are other insidents. It’s been how many years? When you compare those things to all the crap most other stars do is he that horrible a person. Can some of the frustration you and others have felt as former fans be that the immage we have in our heads of someone will never ever be equaled by reality? There is no way that he would be thrilled by a bunch of women fonning over him. That doesn’t mean he is unappreciative of his fans.
the 3 of you have spoken in generalities; trot out the examples. Convince us how horrid Clay is.
One can’t deny the good he’s done its out there. Prove the bad; can it overshadow the good?

Came for the voice, STILL stay for the man.
I guess some people expect too much from their celebrities; but that’s all they are, really. Celebrities, with faults and weaknesses just like the rest of the general population.
All this man owes me is exactly what he’s given me - fun concerts and great CD’s. I don’t want or expect anything more. Those who do………well, it’s not his place to make you happy.

All of you who are complaining about those of us speaking the truth should think back about how many times he lied about his sexuality and his supposed high moral character. Since he came out he has dropped many words that had to be bleeped out. Some of you seem to think that’s cool. No, it’s Clay being arrogant, it’s him saying that he never had the belief system that he said he lived by.
I don’t expect him to be perfect but I do expect him to tell the truth about who he really is and I’m not talking about his sexuality.
He is arrogant and he has made it clear in his interviews that he doesn’t like his fans. All you have to do is listen to what he says to know that. Of course, none of you will ever admit what you see.
I’ve been to the concerts, I’ve seen his charm and I slurped it up big time but no more. There were many times over the years when I would see the things he did and make an excuse for why he did it. Then I had to admit to myself that there really were no excuses, he is what he is and his actions speak for themselves. Seeing people who I know ridiculed and laughed at is the last straw.
Does nothing he does make you go hmmm? Is he so perfect that he is always right? Absolutely not.
He’s the one who held himself up as a moral, straight, devout Christian. He’s the one who stomped all over that. He can’t even be loyal to his gay partner. It is widely known that he cruises the internet looking to hook up. In my book, that’s not what a devout Christian does.

I already mentioned above that I am a loyal fan of Clay’s and will be till the end. I should not even waste my time with this response as I know Clay would say look the other way. However, I just had to chime back in to those people who were a fan but not anymore because Clay is too “nasty”. Also, those “biggest” fans that aren’t fans anymore because of bad treatment. I’d love to know what these people expected from an entertainer. How many performers have you heard of who come out after concerts to shake hands and thank people for coming. Clay could not do this for every concert. These people were probably ticked because it was a night he decided he was not coming out. He does have the right to choose. You don’t know if he felt bad one night, was tired, was even unsure of his safety. You know there have been safety issue at the lines. In my opinion Clay has been too good to us fans (shaking our hands, letting us record concerts so we will have our clack, making jokes with us, and much more. If you are/were a fan you know what I am talking about). He can’t do it all the time and this does not make him nasty when he can’t. If someone placed him on such a high pedestal that no person can stand on than shame on you. Clay is a human. He owes us nothing except the concerts and the CDs we paid for. In my opinion he has given us fan WAY more than any artist would give to their fans and THAT is why we love him. He does treat us special. And…Clay is snarky. Read in it what you want and leave the cool-aid for the rest of us! Try getting the attention from another artist that Clay has given to you. I do enjoy other artists but my heart belongs to Clay. I wish haters, for once, would say nothing and let people be happy.

April 26, 2003-Star magazine reports that despite the constant rumors that he’s gay, ‘American Idol’ finalist Clay Aiken insists otherwise. An insider says, “Finally, after weeks of wondering, a couple of the girls on the show decided to confront him and ask point-blank: ‘Are you gay, or what?’ Clay didn’t hesitate. He insisted that he is straight.”

July 10, 2003-Rolling Stone magazine, “One thing I’ve found of people in the public eye,” Aiken says, “either you’re a womanizer or you’ve got to be gay. Since I’m neither one of those, people are completely concerned about me. They’re like, ‘What are you then?’ I’m sure it has to do with being raised by women. I wouldn’t want somebody gawking at my mom and grabbing her butt and catcalling at her, trying to hook up with her at a bar. I’m not saying I’m not going to look. Hello! But you know what I mean?”

October 9, 2003-Prime Time Live with Diane Sawyer:
Diane: In Rolling Stone he hinted he’s a virgin and denied what’s asked him over and over again. Is he gay? He says no.
Clay: “I have some very effeminate qualities, you know, I try to make sure I’m clean. I was raised by my mom and my two grandmothers really for a long time. I’m not completely blind to it. I…I have gotten used to people asking the question. They think, ok, he doesn’t drink; he doesn’t go out and have sex with…with every woman that he sees. I think it’s high time there’s somebody who represents people who aren’t gay, but doesn’t sleep around with everybody…you know. If I’m supposed to carry the banner for all the nerds in the world I’m fine with that, too, so…”

Is it not OK for anyone to try and protect personal privacy? Did he owe you an explanation?

I too was a devoted fan and went to every Clay Aiken concert up until recently. I just feel he has lied to fans about many things and his stories seem to change according to what interviewer he is talking too and also the target audience. He just isn’t the guy he portrayed himself to be and the man I fell in love with would never have called Simon an ass** or even children for that mattter. He in the beginning did link his personality and beliefs with his singing and I brought the package hook, line and sinker but Clay has shown he’s a different man and I just can’s listen to him anymore.

I know all the “stuff” he has been through - in the media. He has a right to his life and he doesn’t owe any of us an explanation. I find it funny that former “fans” are looking at this article and feel the need to to “prove” their point. What on earth did you have emotionally invested in him? Was it more than singing/entertainment? I think we see that it was much more! Find someone to love and then write something positive for them. It might do a body good.

If he’s not ‘the man you fell in love with’ you had no earthly business ‘falling in love’ with him in the first place.
Jeez! He’s a freaking singer/entertainer/celebrity. If you ‘fell in love’ with him and he crushed your dreams by being a real person, with faults and weaknesses and the right to remain PRIVATE in his PRIVATE life well that’s on you, not him.
I’ve heard it said that love and hate are two sides of the same coin. Looks like some folks have a whole big pocket full of coins and need to find someone in their REAL LIFE to spend them on.

I just love Clay. The reason is simple - I LOVE the voice and he is just amazing to see in concert. Very entertaining. Can’t get enough. I don’t care about any of the other stuff that is none of my business. I don’t get those that make it their concern. Clay is better off without those fair weather fans. Why would he owe you an explanation concerning his PERSONAL life and even if he provided one, why would it be before he admitted anything to himself and before informing his family????? Furthermore, since you clearly aren’t interested in Clay, why are you following his news. Go find some other artist that is pure and innocent with no fault. Go on…and good luck with that. Leave your drinks on the way out!!!

Ah the haters are still at it. All those “truths” you seem to know about Clay…..unless you live his life with him, you know NOTHING. He had every right to keep his personal sex life to himself. The media and YOU had no right digging. As for him being nasty and a diva….that my dears is ALL HEARSAY!
You all sound like a bunch of bitter old ladies who didn’t get the attention you craved from him. Too bad, so sad. I don’t blame him one bit for being turned off by some of the fans. Bunch of attention ho’s. How can you live with yourself with so much hate for one person? What has he done to you PERSONALLY to make you so bitter? Unfreakinbelievable. There really are more things in this world that you could hate, rather than some entertainer.
Try looking at world events and spend your time hating THERE!
You all sound like the bunch from the FRAUD SQUAD! Let it go already……geeeeze. You got a lot of nerve calling Clay out for being a Christian and not living up to your standards. Don’t call yourself a Christian if YOU can’t live up to the Christian belief of not hating. You all are giving religion a bad name…..acting so holier than thou. You are not perfect so just shut.up. You all should be ashamed of yourselves. I doubt very much the Lord would be very happy with the way you all are behaving.

One of the many reasons for my loyalty is that Clay always gives 100% to please his fans in every performance. I remember one Christmas tour when he tried a very difficult song as the last song of the show. The first time he did it his voice cracked on the big final note - but that did not keep him from nailing it every single time the rest of the tour. Other artists might have dropped that song from the set - not Clay! He gives his best and does not let anything defeat him! Love him lots! Can’t wait to see him on tour and on his PBS special airing all over the country the first week of Aug.!

For all the people who are so quick to judge Clay, his very religious pal Ruben does not - he seems happy to be touring with him. People who claim to know what caused the breakup between Clay and his partner know nothing at all except gossip. Any breakup is a confidential matter between the principals. If they choose to share details, it would only be with a trusted friend, not the media. It’s nobody’s business; it’s a private matter that should stay private!
With regard to his “lies,” he was being hounded by the media before he himself had come to terms with his sexuality and before he had even confided in his family or perhaps even accepted himself? How can anyone judge someone on such a personal journey?
I sometimes miss the innocent days of AI2 but then I think all I’ve learned about tolerance, compassion and inclusion of folks who are often pushed to the margins; I think of the plight of children in Afghanistan and Banda Aceh and Uganda and Somalia (from Clay’s UNICEF field notes); I think of the pain bullies inflict on children who are LGBT and the hatred that causes some kids to murder and others to commit suicide. Clay has worked hard on behalf of a number of charities: UNICEF, his own Foundation, the National Inclusion Project, Ronald McDonald Charities, Reading is Fundamental, Equity Fights Aids - the list goes on and on. Being his fan has opened my eyes to many injustices and issues I was only aware of marginally. Read the book, Crisis, by Mitchel Gold. and find out about the fear of “coming out,” losing those you love, suffering persecution, taunts, and even fatal violence because one is “different.”
Read Clay’s own memoir, Learning to Sing, and find out about what it’s like to grow up with a biological father who is alcoholic, violent, a womanizer, and absentee even when present - someone who rejects Clay by simply failing ever to call. He had a stepfather who did not accept him either, but emotionally and physically abused him (beatings). So be careful about judging what we neither understand nor have experienced ourselves.
For me Clay is an entertainer who simply makes me smile - teasing his backup singers, bantering with the audience and now Rubem, singing ANYTHING, clowning - he is just a delight to me. And I thank him for 7 years of more than entertainment - life lessons.

Don’t you just love how the “so called haters” just have to keep reading these articles and then commenting. Very interesting! If I dispised an artist that much ,I would not be reading articles about them, that’s for sure. If you don’t like Clay Aiken then be mature enough to go an follow an artist that you DO love and then when THEY show their imperfections, move on to another. I don’t hate him but yes, he has changed and not for the better. I was with him from the very first moment of his audition and stayed with him until I realized that he was not what I thought he was which was a wonderful, caring, giving, honest person. We aren’t spreading hate, we want you to know who he really is. Have you ever heard, don’t kill the messenger?
It doesn’t matter that we don’t know him personally, we know the persona that he carefully crafted. I’m not looking for attention from him, he has never set eyes on me to my knowledge and I never expected anything from him except the honesty that he said he stood for. And, how old do you really think I am? I’m not so old and I never had any expectations that I would ever know him. You people are the haters, screaming at four people who have spoken the truth. If you can’t take, I pity you. Go on and drown in your Kool-aid, spend all your money on putting more money in Clay’s pocket and dream your little dreams. “dream your little dreams” - Who said anything about dreams. From what I read people enjoy his music and some of his charity work. What kind of dreams did you have of Clay? You must have had some otherwise, where did this come from?? This would explain your hostility.
“He cares nothing for you for anything other than how much money you can put in his pocket.” - Let’s see. He is a singer. His job is making CDs to sell for money. We like to spend our money on good CDs. Clay makes good CDs. We buy Clay’s CDs. Makes perfect sense to me. Are you saying you work for free?? Wow, someone who does a job and doesn’t expect to get paid. I am sure your employer loves you.

If Clay had been the sweet, honest, humble, kind man he had portrayed himself to be, he would understand it. He knows the conniving, deceitful man he really is, so he doesn’t understand the love. I was one of his top fans, but when I happened onto this site today, I couldn’t help responding. There are still fans, but compared to what he started with, thousands have left that once loved him very much. It is not just that he is gay. He is just not a nice person to the fans or in many situations in reality. Almost all the stories I heard and dismissed have proven to be true. There are still quite a few loyal fans. You may find that what you believe to be true about Clay really isn’t. He is a mirage.

Are the negative comments here the source of personal experience or hearsay and tabloids? Funny how these complaints are suddenly showing up, en masse, just as Clay and Ruben are starting their tour together.
Could it be sour grapes from people who claim to be Clay’s former fans, but really are certain people who have not stopped holding grudges from 7 years ago?

I, too, was upset when I found out that Clay was not what I thought he was. It wasn’t about his being gay, but instead that he would choose to have a baby with a woman who was not his wife and yet profess to be a Christian. When he came out, it all made sense, and I was no longer upset. Clay always said he wasn’t all that pure. We just weren’t listening and made him into something he wasn’t. That was my fault, not his. Did he lie? Sure. But I couldn’t care less. I know lots of gay people, and every one of them has lied at some point. Maybe someday we’ll live in a world where young gay people don’t have to lie.
I have seen Clay perform live more than 70 times and have met him 8 times. He was very friendly and nice every time I met him. He seems like a perfectly fine person to me, and I enjoy his humor and his voice just as much as ever. Is he the person I thought he was? No. He’s a different person, and I like him just as much. He’s a fabulous entertainer, and just because someone was hurt doesn’t mean his talent is any less. Entertainers are people, too, and no human being is perfect.
Do I want Clay to be perfect? No. But I do want him to keep entertaining me for a long, long time. There is no entertainer out there whom I enjoy as much as I do Clay Aiken. I can’t explain it. It’s just a simple truth.

Some people put Clay on such a high pedestal, he couldn’t help but fall off. They also seem to forget that Clay was a kid when he was on AI and he is now a man. I think we all change as we mature. What some people consider lying, I consider protecting one’s privacy. I know of one M&G that one girl was given a hard time and she had it coming and deserved it fully. The ones who were also there should have been mature enough to understand and accept it.
People want to say the “gay” card has nothing to do with the matter but for the most part, they are not being honest and forthright so what makes them “better”.
I am an avid fan of Clay’s and probably will be until the day I die. Clay has brought so much to so many people’s lives. Clays fans for the most part have a sense of community and are very generous and giving to other fans. Clay has brought out the best in the majority of his fans. Yes, there are some totally over the top fans who make it bad for the majority. There are also some disillusioned young ladies who were so sure they had a chance with Clay. They never did and it had nothing to do with Clay’s sexuality.
As my name suggests, I am mesmerized by the man with the voice of an angel and a heart of gold. It’s too bad there weren’t more men out there like him as to me, he is the measure of a man.

All I can say is I had a M&G w/ Clay last Thursday in Windsor and he was gracious, funny, warm, personal and talked to each of us and made us feel that we were reuniting with an old friend. Example of his character: An elderly short lady seated next to me in the M&G started to get out of her chair for our hugs and he said “oh, you don’t need to get up” and he bent over to give her a big hug. It was a wonderful experience and only solidified my love for this great entertainer. I can’t even comment on the previous harsh opinions.

The real truth is …. Clay LOST tons of fans when the People Mag hit. NOT because he IS gay but it was his attitude towards the fans who BELIEVED him when he SAID he was NOT GAY. He treated us like we were stupid idiots for “not knowing”. The stories I have heard about the way he has treated fans in Meet and Greets is unbelievable. Talk about a diva. To put it bluntly.. Clay is not the man I thought he was. THAT and that alone is why I am not a fan now. I feel like an idiot who was taken advantage of. I defended him countless times to people who thought I was an idiot for believing what he SAID. He should have apologized for that and he did not.

Stop deluding yourself and wake up! He is not ultra-religious, he’s not a nice person. Even those who knew him before he was on AI report that he was an a$$hole even back then before he became famous. Not to mention his trolling gay websites and picking up multiple partners.(PLayed for a fool)
I can’t believe we still have people quoting articles from 2003 in order to discredit Clay even today. Not only that, we STILL have people who spread malicious lies after all these years. You all must STILL be part of J.P. and tinfoil’s group who started all the sexual innuendoes about Clay. J.P. had quite a cohort of losers who bought into his libelous rhetoric…no, his ….’reverse psychology method’ of encouraging his troublemakers to say all the ‘hate’ words while he pretended to be the ‘injured party’. J.P. played you all….like a violin.
This is 2010. Clay has a right to live his life as he sees fit. Ricky Martin has twins from a surrogate mother who has never been identified. At least, Clay’s son has a good mother who also takes an active role in his life. He has too parents who love him.
Clay owes nothing to his fans. It’s our own personal choice to follow his path to his tours and to praise him publicly. He has done more than the average joe to help his charitable causes. That’s admirable. One thing about money…it’s value doesn’t change just because it was donated by a gay person. If it did, the economy would be much worse off than it is now as a hefty portion of the arts industry are non-heteros….and they donate tons of money.
It sounds like some people are stuck in a time warp. Unbelievable.

No. Tell the truth. It WAS because he was gay. We went through ALL these arguments for three years. Clay DID NOT say he was NOT gay; but, he didn’t say that he was, either. There’s a big difference. Now that we do know…what does it matter? Who really cares? I still love the guy…always have, always will.
You also are overlooking a few facts…conveniently. Clay has been on 8 tours, now. In case you haven’t realized, Clay is also an EMPLOYER. If you include the band members, backup singers, equipment handlers (roadies) , bus drivers, assorted managers etc. etc. , Clay’s payroll (including applicable benfits) must cover app. 60-70 people. His performance costs must run into the millions of dollars. It is NOT Clay’s role to be …one of the guys…at all times when he is working. He is the boss. Am sure there are many instances of sharp words or hurt feelings among his group. It goes with the territory.
Clay owes no one an apology…even you. You get to live your life as you so desire…so does Clay. He didn’t ask you to be undyingly loyal to him…judging by your ’sad’ comments, IMHO, I think you’ve already exacted as much revenge against Clay as you possibly can…verbally and in print…over the span of 3-6 years. You’ve already gotten your ‘pound of flesh’ as Shakespeare put it so well.
I agree wholeheartedly with Ethel…the grandmother who has found so much joy in Clay. I have to say ‘ditto’. Some of my kids think its cool; some won’t talk to me. Who cares, eh? It’s my life. Ethel, I really wish I could be at 30+ clayconcerts, too. Guess I better keep buying lottery tickets, eh?
I sincerely hope and expect that Clay is ‘Still the one’ for the next twenty years. Even should I end up with Altzheimer’s, I’ll still smile and fall in love with him all over again…every single day. lol
